I'm thinking that maybe I'll try to tighten the rotor screw a bit
more. Where can I get the type of pliers that watch repair people use
to open this watch? I tried with my needle nose and it doesn't fit
well enough to get the leverage needed to unscrew the back cover.

But currently I don't think the screw has come completely out
Right, the watch case is close enough to keep the screw from coming all
the way out, but the rotor is not winding the watch. I think if you get
the rotor screw put in properly the rest of the problems will go away.
