Torneau would be more like a high
end audio boutique that sells exclusive brands (and not so exclusiveNo, not so. Not when you are standing at their counter, examining one of
brands) all for list price.
their offerings, and you and the manager know one another.
The problem with Torneau IMHO is that they have too broad a lineup. Their
sales force is not knowledgeable enough and their treatment of customers
not graceful enough to support truly high end brands (e.g. Lange) compared
to what you'd get at say Wempe.
Tourneau acknowleges repeat customers with all they could possibly wish for.
(They will also discount all the way for them.) A couple of days ago I
received 3 Wempe catalogs in the mail; 1, jewelry 2, "Wempe" watches and
the third the "truly high end brands (e.g. Lange)". The A. Lange & So:hne
watches it contained ranged in price from $137,300 (yes, no typo $137,300!)
for their Datograph in platinum down to $16,900. Wempe must have some truly
high end customers as well as high end brands. Unfortunately, I'm not one of
the former :-(.
