Any comments or thoughts on this movement? According to Dr. Ranfft this movement has a swing pinion. Is that how the registers end up at the 12 and 6?
R "yes, it resets to "0" just fine" TF
Chrono-newbie takes a swing, then stands to be instructed by those who
know:
Each of these three are different. Each has a swing pinion that
contacts the center wheel in approximately the same place.
Only the Val 92 has a swing pinion. I think this gives the watch assembler the option of orienting the registers vertically on the dial as in my watch or horizontally as is common in most chronos.
The two
images that Moka Java cited are very close, and Jack's is a bit farther
away from the balance wheel.
The movement is Jack's which is made by a different company.
The mechanisms in Moka Java's two images work opposite each other, the
result of one being articulated and the other not.
I'm not sure what you mean here. But then I'm not 100% sure it's a Val 92 since it's not marked and most Val movements I've seen are marked with a crest and a caliber #. I thought it was a Venus because I often see them unmarked.
While the mechanism
in Jack's image is also articulated, it's not clear which of Moka Java's
images it matches in function.
I think they ultimately do the same thing. :-)
If I'm even close in the above description, I've learned something, it
would seem. ;) Otherwise, you guys will set me straight, I trust. :)
