Re: Quartz GMT, any good?

Just wondering which quartz GMT movement this watch is using.

My guess would be an ETA since it is swiss made. You might ask
Princeton or the manufacturer for details.

Also, how scratch resistance is the 'hardened' mineral crystal on this
watch. How does it compare to sapphire crystal.

Sapphire is harder than mineral, but expect that the hardened mineral
will last and not show scratches easily. No material is scratchproof
including sapphire.

Sapphire will tend to reflect and color the light much more than
mineral glass, which may be pleasing or irritating depending on your
interests. That visual activity can be controlled by optical coatings,
however if they are applied to the outside of the crystal they tend to
show wear easily.

Is quartz movement as lasting as a automatic movement?

Well, a quartz movement will go three years or longer between needing a
battery change. An automatic has to be used at least once every other
day to keep running.

I've seen quartz watches from the 1970's that are running, indeed I
have a Seiko King Quartz from 1979 that runs just fine. I would expect
that most quartz watches will run for a very long time, long past the
time the case starts to show wear, scuffs, etc.

I would not worry about the longevity of a watch unless you plan on
using it for the next 40 years. Most of us don't, especially with
moderately priced quartz watches like this..
