There's also another super expensive one (I forget who makes it) where the escapement sits out at the tip of the minute hand - it's a wild thing to see.
Do you mean this:

But these things cost a king's ransom - that's the whole point really -
by wearing such a watch you are making a statement that you are so super rich that money means nothing to you in comparison to amusement.
The UN Freak is within the realm of the merely wealthy. These are for the filthy rich oil sheik set:

What "statement" does a Chinese tourb. make about you? I'm not sure, but I don't think it is a tremendously positive one. Watch fanciers won't be impressed (see the commentary here), snobs won't be impressed (it's not Swiss and expensive) and the general public cant tell a tourb. from a heartbeat, so I don't know who this leaves.

Nonnymus - pls tell us why you are so fixated on getting a tourb. Numerous posters here have all given you the same advice - get a good solid watch such as a Sandoz, skip the tourb., yet you seem set on that path. Can you tell us why (keeping in mind that a wrist tourb. makes no sense in that unlike a pocket watch it spends time in various positions naturally so that the tourb. mechanism does not add to timekeeping. In fact it may TAKE AWAY from time keeping - note how few tourbs, even expensive ones (not to mention the Chinese ones) make any claims as to timekeeping accuracy or rating.)
Jack (and respected others), I'm not sure why I want one. All I know is that I really like that little "thing" going "round" in the window. Please forgive me, but somehow I like it and think I'd like to get a Chinese version. I really like the one with the tourb. window, date and power reserve, but agree that it's a $600 watch. If I could get one for that price, I'd be happy. I don't have a good reason for wanting one, other than I think they are interesting.
If you see one like I'm mentioning, I'd be happy for any tips you might offer.
