Re: Pendulum for Ingraham Nyanza Banjo

Again, weight is not an issue. Weight will not effect the rate or
operation of your clock.

In the same catalog, Timesavers, you will find several 4 1/2'' diameter
bobs. As this what you found on ebay, the diameter should be good.
Choose one with a 5/8'' slot, for the wood stick pendulum. I would suggest
a weight that is under 1 pound if possible.

You will need to fabricate the stick, as well as purchase a rating nut
assembly and top hook. All of these parts are available in the catalog.

Thanks for your help. My comments are below

I don't know, I have never worked on your model, but I have repaired
other
Ingraham models such as the Natal.

These models as well as other makers, were mostly 1920's and 1930's
reproductions. Your model dates as early as 1915 but after the late
1920's
was no longer listed.

An Ingraham catalog that I have, shows a window in the lower glass. It
appears that the pendulum is about 2 1/2'' to 3'' in diameter. Weight
is
not the issue but size for appearance sake , might be.

Most of these bobs had a bale type holder/adjuster. This bale would
then
be attached to a long thin round rod with a ''J'' formed end. You say
you
do NOT have this type?

To help things, here is a link to a picture of a Nyanza bob that sold
on ebay.

I do not know what a bale type holder is. The movement's rod has a
closed loop that is bent parallel to the front of the case.

Given the picture and description, how heavy a bob should I go for?

Other pictures show a bob with wood stick through them. This may have
been
a short wood piece, say 6'', then it would have connected to your
suspension
rod.

If I go with a wood stick, what is the correct hardware to mate the top
of the stick to the movement's loop?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

I see the items you refer to.
How heavy a bob do these type of clocks require?

Some

Please excuse the question from a clock newbie.

I bought an Ingraham banjo clock this weekend, but the pendulum
was
missing. Can someone advise me as to a proper replacement for
this
using terminology that will enable me to buy from an online
source?

I do not know the proper weight for the bob. The rod from the
movement
that accepts the pendulum rod has a closed round hook whose
orientation
is parallel to the case. Length I can figure out myself, but I do
not
have a clue as to the proper weight or rod fitting to mate it to
the
movement's linkage.

Thanks in advance!

Phil
