I think you will find that the quartz mode is simply what happens--or
continues--in the way of time-keeping when the radio-controlled time
synchronization does not take place. Or put another way, unless the
time-keeping function ceases altogether, be it digital or analog
indicator makes no difference, then the Quartz Mode is the timepiece
continuing to tell time after it was last synchronized. One would
expect that the time could be conventionally synchronized at any time
anyway, in the event, e.g., that the automatic radio-controlled
synchronizaton is not made, but that is not known to me in this
instance.
