Opinions Please

Some while ago when we were discussing the possibility of an
'Alt.Horology' watch, 'Swisswatchguy' made a comment in response to me
testing the feasability of using a clear disc as the seconds 'hand' by
making a mock up in timber - something to the effect of "that's an
interesting idea (wood)".
This comment festered and I did some further tests and design work which
eventually lead me to source some low-end Miyota movements along with
the necessary crystals, straps etc.
The upshot is that I made 5 units as Christmas presents for some of my
family and photographs are on my web site at:
www.crescentcomputing.co.uk
.. . . . where the obvious button is 'Horology'.
Your opinion on the concept, execution and potential long term problems
would be most welcome.
As far as the recipients are concerned they - not having any idea about
the finer points of 'good' watches - are astounded at the fact that
they each have one of 5 unique 'time-pieces' :))
