Bulova Marine Star vs. Timex

Hiya,

I wanted a semi-dressy metal banded watch. I also like to have 2 mode
(both digital and analog)... I use the alarm and countdown timer on my
ratty looking Ironman classic (pre indiglo) fairly often, so I'd like
to keep that capability on my "nicer" watch if possible.

Today I bought a bulova marine star...Nice looking, but I have to say
I'm surprised and disappointed at how bare bones the digital features
are. The countdown/countup timer it has counts towards or, up from a
date and time that you enter... Is that gonna be useful for me to boil
my eggs? or to remind when to baste my turkey?? Or to give my wife 3
minutes for her turn at scrabble?? I don't really care how many days
it is until easter, other than that the bulova timer seems useless to
me.

Also, how is that a suppossed "better make" watch doesn't have a light
for it's digital display??? Even my $5 digital watch in 1980 had a
light!?

I did have a dual display timex, and after about 4 years it croaked,
but basically it had the features of an ironman in a dressier package.
I liked that the analog face was indiglo. Now I'm back to my beat up
ironman.

I'm leaning towards returning the $100 Bulova (it is a good price I
think), and buying another $55 Timex.

What say you Marine star fans, should I keep it?? Am I missing it with
the timer thing? Does it have a light that I can't figure out? Neither
the manual I got with it or that on the Bulova site mentions one.

Thanks for your $.02.
