While fleet vehicles do tend to rack up an enormous number of miles
between overhauls, their time between overhauls is much less than a
typical, well maintained, low mileage vehicle. In any event, the
comparison is not a very good analogy because automotive engines
typically rely upon "sling" and pressurized bearing journal systems
that have a lag factor.
I surely do enjoy reading what you have to say about watches. I find
the whole subject fascinating.
