Re: Rolex warranty myth?

I agree Jack, if I had a "regular" dealer that knew me then things
might be different, however I am not a repeat customer, I purchased
both watches from two seperate dealers at two seperate points in time,
I tried buying from the same dealer the latter time however they didn't
treat me that well in the first place and being a chain they didn't
remember me the minute I walked out the door anyway so unless I was
spending some serious cash in there my chances of good service were
slim at best anyway.

The latter dealer I went to was nice before the sale, however when I
discovered they had given me the wrong packing materials a few months
later (wore the watch out and found they gave me a datejust box by
mistake) they acted if I was a loon when I asked for the proper box
knowing that if I do sell it adds a good amount to the price (really
how sad is that), so while I did get the correct box I detected more
than a bit of sarcasm in the process...given that experience there was
no way I was going back to them with a minor finish issue, and as I
said before why would you knowing that the issue came from the company
direct and not the dealer...with every other product I own companies
encourage you to deal with them direct instead of your local store.

I think had Rolex handled either of my situations better I might not be
as disgruntled however I must say that in all of my dealings with
various companies and products this has to be one of my worse
moments...I mean two watches from two dealers at two different points
in time and each have finish problems and in both cases Rolex service
doesn't seem to care about the satisfaction of their customer..not what
I expected.
