Hard to speculate on styling choices, but most Seikos, especially kinetics,
seem to go for a more modern style with the bracelet integrated. The Sub
style, while "classic" , is pretty long in the tooth - how many other
products are made in the exact same style as 50 years ago? The spring bar
system, while offering a lot of options for different bracelets to be
attached, is far from ideal in terms of strength. In its mainstream models,
I think Seiko prefers to have it's own distinctive look rather than copy 50
year old Swiss designs. The watch you link to is not even sold in the US.
As an alternative, look at the Invicta quartz divers, which follow the Sub
style fairly closely.
