BTW, the estimate they gave you was outrageous. As we have seen, this watch has a $7 movement. Why would anyone even CONSIDER doing a "full service cleaning" (probably accounting for $150 of the estimate) on a $7 movement, except to separate the naive from their money? This can't be justified under any circumstances - it would be like charging $100 to do a "full service cleaning" on the air filter in your car instead of selling you a new $7 filter. Whoever quoted this to you is a crook (if it was Movado, they are double crooks). Run away and never deal with them again.
outrageous is right, but unfortunately not unusual, a few years back a friend of mine managed to get water in his Tag Ti case watch, the Tag agent quoted him $300+ to service, new gaskets, crown, pressure test the watch.
the dial was fine as was the screw down crown, the back gasket was damaged and the movement rusty, the dial was fine.
anyway it had a $20 movement fitted in a $1500 watch!, so after a new movement, new back gasket, battery and P/test for which it cost him $50, even in a retail shop it should have only cost him $60-70, not $300!
