Sorry mm, it was actually Tesla's idea. A respected man of science, until he started chasing that dream. Lost his reputation and his money.

I suggest doing more homework on what actually happened to Tesla. It is the classic story of a con artist grabbing someone else's idea and running with it. Another classic involved Marconi (only he was the con artist)

Not obvious what you are referring to.

I don’t remember reading in this thread what Tesla really accomplished.

Tesla has all the basic patents on AC motors and multiphase power. Wesitnghouse bought the patents. If Tesla had not relinquished his royalties on each motor when Westinghouse was in trouble Tesla would have been a rich man. There was a "war of the currents" with Edison, who had DC systems. A good book is "Empires of light" about Edison, Tesla and Westinghouse and the development of electric power in the US.

Tesla’s patents were also given "priority" over Marconi’s by the US Supreme Court. Tesla had some of the indispensable basic patents for radio. The court decision came rather late - after world war 2.

A biography of Tesla suggested Tesla is unknown because of his dominance in AC patents. You basically couldn’t do anything without his patents. But companies tried and infringed, often deliberately. It was not in the interest of many to give Tesla any credit. One of the important early texts was written by Steinmetz (sp?) an important engineer for GE. GE was the successor company to Edison’s empire.
