In general, Home Depot and Lowe's should be last resorts for any product
you're looking for.

Ridiculous.

Carpet is extremely high margin, is all ordered from the same
mills in Georgia, and there are scores of places that sell it cheaper
and install it better than Home Depot.

You do realize that HD hires carpet companies to install their carpet?
So I don't know how it would be installed any better.

They hire the lowest bidder, and they get a cut. Pretty simple.

For a simple installation it may make no difference. For a complicated
installation, with a lot of stairs, different types of stairs, and
transitions to other types of flooring, it can make a big difference.

Just because someone is the lowest bidder doesn't mean that they don't
know what they are doing.

Like I said, the company I used to work for installed their shower
doors and we were considered one of the best glass companies in town.
(they're still considered one of the best)

It's also the same deal with big construction jobs. In order to get
the work you have to out bid the other companies. I remember working
for a very small company one time and we routinely out bid the big
boys.

That is how you build that type of business and get a good reputation.

Please!
