ground the bird, it would again be fried.

Interesting that people now work on high tension lines (frequently 500
kv or even 1,000,000 V) bare handed. They use fiberglass bucket trucks
that keep them insulated from the ground. Still I think they grab the
wire with a semi-conducting rod to charge their bodies up to that
potential slowly.
