Is the salt supplied by pool suppliers the same salt as used in water
softeners?
You can use water softener salt as long as it is pure (99.5%) and
contains no additives like YPS (yellow prussiate of soda). Pool store
salt *may* contain cyanuric acid (aka stabilizer), and this is
something you can add separately.
