I'm in the market for a P90 pickup in the bridge position. It's for my

I need something that will give me a good clean sound, but also have
some bite when I want some dirt. I've been reading up on them and have
come to find out that there are alot of different companies that make
them and several different versions. I'm writing this post for a
suggestion(s) on which P90 I should check out.
If I have my facts correct, Gibson made the original P90, which used the
Alinco 3 magnet; the newer ones use the Alinco 5 magnets. From what I've
read, it seems that almost everyone favors the older P90s with the
Alinco 3 magnets; I assume these are hard to come by. Right now I have a
SD JB Humbucker in the bridge. I'd like to avoid any additional routing,
but will deal with it to achieve the best sound possible.

Adam, if you hate hum as much as I do, you might want to consider the Lindy Fralin P92. They are also DROP-IN replacements for a standard humbucker hole. That can be a HUGE advantage.

See: http://www.fralinpickups.com/humbuckers.asp#humbuckers

I put them in my '69 SG Special. It came to me already modified with humbuckers -- original P90's long gone. I can't tolerate the hum from any true single coil in my location (which is especially bad as far as EMI and RFI goes). So the Fralin's get the the guitar back to sounding the way it should, but without the hum.
