After having played lead, rhythm for decades I suddenly felt like playing
Simon and Garfunkels Mrs. Robinson (am still struggling with it)
Sounds so simple and is yet so difficult to get fluent. Have some of you
ever been surprised how difficult simple guitar parts wasn't so simple after
all ;-)

It comes as a bit of a shock when you try something different that seems simple. I think it is related to muscle memory, conditioned reflexes or whatever you want to call it. Here's a little test. relax and clasp your hands together with your fingers interlaced. Note which thumb is on top. Now try doing it with the other thumb on top, and see how it feels.

It seems I'm ambithumbrous!!

The first time I did what you said, my left thumb was on top. So I asked
myself, "Is this how you usually do it?" My answer: "I don't know." I'm
equally comfortable either way.

I saw that on one of those self-help TV promos. Most folks, including myself, always cross their hands the same way, and have to put deliberate effort into doing it the other way. In my case it feels like I am holding hands with someone else, and I notice how small my hands are.

Yeah, but getting back to my mrs. robinson difficulties, is the intro
difficult or do I need to practice some special exercises?

Appreciate your answer, but english is after all my second language, so
what does HTH mean, please :-)

"Hope this helps"

Your English is better than mine, I wouldn't have guessed it isn't your first language.
