I know how to use a multi meter to get the DC resistance ohms rating
of pickups when the pickups are out of the guitar. Is there an
accurate way to get them when they are still IN THE GUITAR through the
output jack? Or is there a better way?
It comes close (a little low) if you turn the tone and volume pot(s) up full
and measure across tip and ring of a plugged-in lead. I do it regularly
while tinkering and to check series/parallel switches. <g> I haven't yet
quite reached the stage where I take the multimeter down to the store with
me to check the pickups in new guitars, but it won't be long....
