Re: String order? - LOW E has always been the "6th" string.

I don't see how ordering the strings by pitch can be seen as a mistake. In fact, do you have any
basis to justify why the string with the lowest pitch should be the one given a higher order?

The *high* E has always been 1st string.

Yup. And as with most universal standards, there are always going to
be a few misguided souls who think that said standards should be
reversed so as to fit in with their personal misconceptions.

They fail to understand that it matters not how you label something so
long as there's a commonly-agreed-upon definition, and that it's each
individual's responsibility to learn what those labels refer to.

That doesn't make sense. Basically your case to label those who disagree with you as being
"misguided souls" and accusing them of fitting something to "their personal misconceptions" is
based only on the premise that their explanation doesn't fit your personal misconception. After
all, why do you believe that the string order should be in perfect contradiction to the pitch
order, which is a fundamental concept in music?

And hiding behind the absurd notion of "commonly agreed upon definition", particularly when it
lacks any basis, is silly. It's nothing more than a different wording for "I said so", which is
never a justification.
