Does anyone remember the first solo that they learned to play?
For me, it was Tangerine by Led Zeppelin. Certainly nothing flash, but I
was reminded of it after I eventually changed the strings on my acoustic and
strummed the opening chords to the song.
I worked more on riffs and learnt basic scales pretty early so never really copied any solo's. Actually the first thing I could play note for note was the intro (both parts) to Wish you Were here. another Brick part II about the same time too. I really only copy signature phrases and tricks, never really whole solos' Well, rarely anyway.
I've been working on Tangarine of late, great song.
