I'm trying to find reviews on these pups but all I can find are
reviews of the guitars. Not much specifically on the pups. Reason
I'm looking is I have a tele copy with crappy pups and a local guy has
highway one's going cheap. I guess what I'm wondering is are highway
ones generally swapped out or are they decent?

thanks
Co-incidentally, another local has a set from a MIM tele going cheap
as well. Upon researching this a bit I withdraw the question! It's
way too subjective and I'm the only one who can provide the correct
answer.

Oh well, I'll put in my 2 cents anyway. <g>

Describing tone isn't my strong suit but I just bought a MIM in May, 2010 with the stock pups thinking I would change them out. After playing it for a couple of months and getting some nut work done I've decided to keep the stock pups. I'm sure there are better, and some would probably hate them, but I find both pups adaquate for my needs and with a good tonal range. Nice tele quack. (that's the extent of my vocabulary). I've read reviews where people have tried swapping (SD alnico included) and ended up putting the stock pups back in. Best thing to do is try one and see. I played mine for as long as my wife and nephew would allow me to before I bought it. Compaired it to Squires, MIA and Roadworns. I liked the Standard MIM the best. I didn't try the HW I. The Roadworn was pretty much identical except for price. I'll have to wear mine out on my own.

I tested it on a Hot Rod Dlx and at home I play mainly through a Vox Pathfinder or my computer montors. Sounds great on all three. I've got to say, this is the most fun guitar I own. :-)
The stock ones in my MIM Blackout Tele sound good, but I don't like the noise with just one, so I'm swapping them for SCNs. I'll leave the stock one in the middle, though.

I'll also prefer the higher output of the SCNs, I think. We'll see...

I have SCNs in my strat and I like those too. Dead silent. Not cheap though.

Me too - I also have a Deluxe series Strat and Tele. Really like 'em.

I got a Tele set on clearance for $100. Figured I should grab them while I can, given the new N3s out...sort of hard to find them on the shelf these days.

Yeah..MF discontinued. ?? I saw a set on the internet for $140. I'd snag them for $100.

These look reasonable:
