I haven't looked seriously at any new gear for a while. I've ordered the
last few bits for my Andycaster and thought I might check out some old
video clips on my HDD. I stumbled over Jerry Lee Lewis and kid rock,
what caught my attention was a Epiphone Blues Custom amp being used by
one of the guitarists. Kinda cool, anyway then I found myself looking at
extension cabinets for the VJH, and then on to the Fender Champion 600..
Dammit. now I want one of those too. Anyone tried one? Is it any quieter
than a VJ?

Then I perused the local stores on line catalogue and they have a sweet
looking Surf Green Ibanez Jet King with a pair of P-90's that caught my
eye. Sigh. When will it end? I think I'm going to have to nip down and
try one out.

I think I'm GASsing as the band is looking like a reformation. Again.

One more thing, has anyone tried a Duncan Quarter Pounder Tele pup? I'm
looking to match the 14k Shadow 59 humbucker with a tele pup that has
more mid punch and a little hotter.

The Jet King is one of my favourite guitars, at least the original
humbucker versions were. - Coil tap switch, nice neck profile and
fantastic sustain. Aren't the modern VJs quieter than the older ones?
Mine is an early one, it has had assorted mods including noise
reduction, and I reckon it is a ***lot*** better than the Champ 600.

Mine is the series 2 and whisper quiet. I should of clarified tho, I
meant a not-so-loud practice amp. The VJ with a 1x12 greenback is
freaking loud. I'm just looking for variation and lower volume. I'm also
a Fender amp fan so it was an obvious choice to look at.

I think the idea of a P-90'd jet king is brilliant and might satisfy my
P-90 thirst as well as being a good guitar. Roll on tax time. ;-)

I think the jet King is good enough that I would be happy to upgrade
the pickups if I thought it was necessary. For a few weeks now I have
been think of putting P90s in my bitsa strat.
