Has anyone had the opportunity to check out the new Eminence speakers
with the built in attenuators? Might be revolutionary, might be a free-
for-all1980's style flash in the pan. I checked the website and they
don't have any sound clips for them that I could find.
I'm still up in the air about what kind of guitar speakers I want to
pair with my '73 Bassman. I heard a couple of Fender amps being played
at Guitar center. One had Celestion's and one had Jensen's. They both
sounded great. So far I am kinda leaning toward the Eminence Legend
series. Not too expensive and I like the sound clips. But of course
who knows how they will sound with "your" amp.

actually Jensen makes some great speakers that always 'fly under the radar'.
They are called the Jensen "Mod" series.  And they really are excellent..
Kinda like if a classic Jensen and Celestion got together - then the
Mods would be the kids.

Jensen Mod 12-110 = sorta like a Vintage 30 but no mid spike.
Great smooth top end. nice big tight bottom and smooth but prominent mids..
Excellent speaker !!   way better than Vintage 30 (imho).

Jensen Mod 12-70  = sorta like a Celestion G12H30 but not 'boomy'
and nicer fuller mids and nicer top end without the harsh spiky top.
very articulate until really driven hard and then has nice breakup.

You could also do a mix 2x12 with one Mod 12-110 and one Mod 12-70.
You'll really like it - especially for bassman head.

anyways, just trying to give you an alternative to think about.
Jensen Mod speakers are reasonably priced and could actually sell
for a lot more.  bargain speakers but as good as anything else out there
and mostly better than anything else out there.

I put a Jensen MOD in my Fender Frontman G. Man, what a difference. It
went from an useless p.o.s. to a very decent sounding amp. So I know
they are good speakers. And they are on my consideration list. None of
my local music stores have stand alone 2x12 cabs to audition so I'm
just gonna have to hope I get a good match somehow when I do purchase.
