That was THEE factor. They had no paint facility because they had
inherited the expiring legal paperwork and such like for the
existing(at that time) Fender factories and stuff. In order to keep
painting in America they had to completely rebuild the existing paint
shop to comply with modern day regulations, they had gotten away with
it long enough. So they decided to do that, rather than just
outsource all the painting, which I was told was considererd for quite
a while. Since the paint on any guitar is not warranted, guitar
players like me told reps like ours that this would be a very bad
idea, I would not buy guitars that were painted in some jokers garage
and then insulted further by not even being SOME kinda warranted.
