I don't know man, I like the focus, the natural compression, forcing
the tone up and through the pole pieces, like a closed back cabinet,
except it's a guitar and all.

Have you actually tried it both ways and listened carefully unplugged ?
(I have). If you still like it on, make a wooden one at least - or a
plastic back for your 4x12 if ya like the plastic sound ; ' ) e
