Paul McCartney and Ray Davies Concerts-Last Week In Phoenix,AZ
I had the rare privilege of seeing both Paul McCartney and Ray Davies
in concert last week. They're both getting older, but they've both
still got the goods and the desire to deliver some very fine music.
Ray played to about a half capacity crowd and Paul's show was SRO.
They both were a distant draw to WrestleMania XXVI, which was held the
same night as the McCartney concert and "just across the street." WM26
brought in over 72.000 fans and made for one hell of a traffic jam.
What was really brought home, by both the Davies and McCartney gigs,
was how truly great songs stand the test of time. Hey, it's not as
exciting as watching some steroid addled, pseudo cartoon hero going
off the top rope, but it's pretty inspiring to see a couple pros still
plying their craft with such enthusiasm.
