Buffalo Springfield played your high school? Was this before or
after they were very well known and had at least one monster hit,
"For What Its Worth"?... wasnt that them?
When they played there "For What It's Worth" was the hit song on the
ol' AM radio, in heavy rotation, as they say. That's all I knew of
them, that they had a song on the radio that I liked, and they were
playing close by.
I found a flyer for the concert in my locker, so I talked my parents
into letting me go. I went with a couple of friends, although I don't
remember who. I don't remember much about the show except for Neil's
fringed jacket, and that the music sounded incredibly loud, and the
bass feeling like it was rattling my guts. It felt great!
Of course I didn't realize I was watching a bit of history, but I'm
sure glad I got the chance. I'm amazed that someone would have the
foresight to record a cheesy high school concert by some disposable pop
band. It's a very cool record of a unique moment in time.
