One of the things I like about Amplitude 3 is that they've thrownYou only need 16. You really only need 24 if you are recording
in a 4 track recorder. Seems like it would be less of a CPU hog
if you can record your guitar tracks it directly without having to
use it within another recording program (I use Audition). I could
be mistaken though. The only thing that concerns me is I can't
find any specs on the recorder. I'm not sure if it will do high
quality recording, like 24 or 32 bit.
commercially and need to leave 20dB worth of headroom. 32 bit is ...
kinda silly - the proggies all convert to 32 bit internally, anyway.
You only need 16 in the final product, but if you do a lot of
bouncing etc. having 24 *internally* is helpful.
You don't need to do bouncing any more :) And I am not aware of any
available DAW that does not use 32 bit float internally. There used to
be such a thing, but not recently.
I say this because I have about a dozen 4 hour gigs in up to 16 tracks
on this machine, and they *already* take up enough space as it is.
For what it's worth, within Sonar (and probably other recording software
packages also), you can set the bit resolution. I *could* use 32 but I
don't because, as you say, it takes up an awful lot of space.
