The best luck I've had going from clean to dirty with the volume knob
is, interestingly enough, with a Smokey amp into a cab.  Dial down the
guitar's volume & you get a beautiful chimey clean; crank it, and
you're into a fuzzy, rumbling raunch.

Only problem I have with this idea is the Volume changes alot also.. e


agreed. its not like your clean sound is going to be anywhere near as loud
as your dirt sound.
