Assymetrical neck?!

I was considering a Gibson Les Paul, then had a look on ebay.....
I found the 2009 Les Paul, looked nice.....'but..........
It says it has the new "Assymetrical neck"....?! WTF?
What are Gibson up to? No LP ever had an assymetrical neck.
It's not something I'd wish on my worst enemy, so what's it all about?
I want my LP to be like the LPs of old....'EXACTLY the same!
Is it just me, or is this new neck profile readily acceptable to the masses?
