rendering most stuff, lots of sites are built for IE but thats
because it lets anyone execute stuff. Firefox can at least
render stuff properly (well almost) and if you really really
need to use IE, you can install the IEtab plugin. It uses the
IE engine to load a page in another tab in Firefox but using
IE.. if you catch my drift. Lynx would have to be the safest
browser around but thats text driven. No fancy pics for you in
that baby.
Basically anything thats on the 'net exposes your computer to
black hat nasties.. but thats the risk you take. Either that or
install Linux.

I've been a Firefox user for a while now and because I wanted to
help out a guy at work who was having problems with html on our
little company's web site, I wound up upgrading to a version of
Firefox 3 (I have 3.0.5 now here at home but a different version
at the office...no matter).
Anyway since I've upgraded it hasn't been doing the Flash thing
correctly. For instance if I go to a myspace site that has music
autoplay I get a message saying that Flash needs to be upgraded.
BUT I DID THAT! Maybe it doesn't know where to find Flash? For
what it's worth the Flash sites work fine if I use IE but I'd
rather not, know what I mean?
Anyway, help on this will be appreciated...thanks!

to the other directory? Just double check.
The old version was installed in C:\Firefox and so's the new one. I
made sure of that when I did the install. And the executable has
the same name (Firefox.exe as opposed to say, Firefox2.exe or
Firefox3.exe) so any third-party stuff that references it should
see the same thing.
And people wonder why I still run Win2K at home! Arggghhhh!

Check to see your Java console is enabled. If that is, then it might
be the version of Flash installed. Apparently there appear to be
some issues with v10. Or even have java installed if it isn't
already. http://www.java.com/ - click Install.
To reinstall flash, use Adobes uninstaller first:

IE uses a different version of Flash than Firefox so that's not
really in indicator if its installed or not.
Flash using the executables from the site listed above, went back
into Firefox, went to Lewis's site from the thread he posted.
No luck.
Then brought up the Flash settings manager, deleted everything in the
cache, reloaded Lewis's page. Still no luck.
Here's the message I get on the myspace sites:
"Get Flash now! In order to listen or view this content you will
have to upgrade your version of Flash."
Anyway so now I just installed the most recent Firefox version
(3.0.8), upgrading from (3.0.5) which I had on the system
previously. Still get the same message.
After the Firefox reinstall, I uninstalled and then reinstalled Flash
once more. No dice.
In between the last uninstall and reinstall, I ran regedit and did a
search of the registry for funky things involving Flash. Everything
still seems normal: certain file extensions were still associated
with Flash even though I had uninstalled it, but I can't see where
that would cause an issue.
Double frack!!
As it turns out I still have the installer executable for Firefox
2.0.0.10. If I can't get this thing resolved fairly quickly, I might
just uninstall Firefox and go back to the dinosaur version. It
occurs to me that there may be incompatibilities between Firefox 3.x
and Win2K, my dinosaur OS.
In any event, I appreciate the help!!
If you have "No Script" you will have to turn it off for that page
