"Baby cried the day the circus came to town
'Cause she didn't want parades just passing by her
So she painted on a smile and took off with some clown
As she danced without a net upon a wire"
- from "Don't Cry Out Loud" by Melissa Manchester
There, that wasn't so good, now was it? Sure, Melissa had a decent
voice, and looked great in a white satin dress, but ugh. Circus
metaphors are never a good idea. They didn't cut it in Miss Schiller's
10th grade creative writing class, and they don't work in this song.
At least this kind of pseudo-poetic, sensitive singer/songwriter swill
of the 70's got people fed up enough to create punk rock. So something
good came of it.

Good one.. Ahem, from the Kiss archives a excerpt of a lovely ditty
entitled "Burn Bitch Burn"
"Well it's out of the fryin' pan and into the fire
You bent over, baby, and let me be the driver
Just a cut of pink, wouldn't believe me if I told you
But this time you bit off more than you can chew
My my, yeah, just listen to this, babe
I got nasty habits, it's a fine line, so many girls and so little time
When love rears its head, I wanna get on your case
Ooh baby, wanna put my log in your fireplace, maybe baby, you wanna get
played"
