I have been working with a new group of musicians that
vary in skill and interest, and I am finding it difficult to
move forward with new song ideas. While I'm not the lead
singer, I tend to have to lead the band in song selection,
preparation, and playing dynamics.

One mistake I think I made was giving the opportunity for
all to offer and vote on songs ... That wasn't too smart ;-{ .
We have a shitty list of songs that aren't interesting and
boring to play.

An other annoying issue is the consist breaks for a smoke,
beer, and pissing.

I can see why so many guitarists go their own way with a power 3
some !

You need to keep in mind that it is also music so it has to be fun.

We as any other band have these issues - there are some bandmembers that would like ot make it more of a social club and other that would like to make it a programmer's desk without any human interaction. I am kinda in the middle trying to keep the balance.

I auditioned for a new band recently and noticed that everything was just relaxed - noone was too anal or too loose, they all cracked jokes every once in a while. Then it dawned on me what oppressive environment has been created in our rehearsal room by said parties.
