Sorry for the off topic message; I usually prefer to stay within the

These poor economic conditions are hitting everyone pretty hard but
some folks are worse off than others and must rely on charity. The
number of those people has increased quite a bit over the past several
months which has strained organizations that already had a hard time
providing services to those who need it - and that is compounded by
fewer donations being made as everyone is struggling more.

Thanksgiving is next week and, before you know it, the whole holiday
season will be upon us. If you can, consider donating your time, some
money or food or clothing to a charity who can use it to help make
someone else's holiday a little brighter.

If you'd like to help, here are some links but there are many other
organizations who can use your help as well.

Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (Google for a soup kitchen in your area)

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation

Salvation Army

I agree with your post...this is not a flame.
I donate to a local diner that does free Thanksgiving every year for
thousands. I donate money and food as well as eat there many times
during the year (They have great and cheap breakfasts). Anyway...a
lady was asking for food donations for the poor at my wife's job...but
they had to be "name brand" donations. She was worried that the hungry
people would be too embarrassed if it was not name brands. That's the
kind of crap that pisses me off. I do not necessarily buy brand name
food for my own family...I'm not about to buy it to donate. If someone
is hungry...they won't mind. I am NOT hungry...and I don't mind. Just
my rant for the day.
Oh I just saw your link...I give to the Marine Toys for Totos every
year too. I buy the toy and donate the toy. Go Marines!!!
