I remember back in the early to mid 70s, the first "real" rock band I ever
saw, just a cover band that played "teen-night" at our local swimming pool
clubhouse. I had been listening to rock and roll radio for a couple of
years by then, and seen bands on tv, but never seen the real thing up
close. they were actually pretty damned good and even played Hoedown by
Emerson Lake and Palmer and some stuff by Led Zeppelin. I had just started
playing guitar and came home more confused than ever. I couldnt see how
anybody could ever learn how to play that stuff.

Of course, seeing the cute chicks dancing around in bikinis wasnt exactly
discouraging.
