I also hate gigging. Very similar feelings. I actually enjoy it about a

after the night before gig I feel great. That's what makes me do it again.
Pretty weird. My issue is that I'm super critical of everything I do so
even if people say how much they enjoy it after the gig I have trouble
taking that on board. As I said. Pretty weird.
The wizard.
Dude, that's it! I'm not sure if it's really that I'm just a masochist
going for another gig, but indeed in retrospect the gigs, when
discussed etc. seem like they were fun and all. Exactly like you said!
Also on the super critical issue. It doesn't help that people here are
very very reserved about giving any good feedback...hell my own family
doesn't even want to hear any of my music, so why should anybody I
don't know? It's pretty impossible to feel good about performing when
you just have to work hard to get a place to play in in the first
place, and then never really getting any real feedback or support
about it.
It'd be different to play cover songs...those would be appreciated,
but that's not my cup of tea really. Now and then, but not much. I'd
feel like I sold myself if I played lots of covers. The same as in if
I tried to make music that was generally 'hit' type and
pleasant...wouldn't work for me.
Cheers,
Dee
