Re: David Gilmour sound using right hand ring

A metal doesn't have to be ferrous (i.e., iron or steel) to affect a
magnetic field. Any metal can affect a magnetic field, including silver and
gold. That's how metal detectors work.

If his ring is gold or silver then it wouldnt do anything to the magnetic
field. I doubt the guys wearing a steel ring?

You can see that David Gilmour switches his ring between his right hand
and left hand, see in:

As we all know, moving metal in magnetic field induces current, and hence
affects the guitar's sound.

Does anyone know in what song he gets his sound with his ring on the
right hand? :)

Thanks,
