WOW!

My XP Pro box boots in less than 60 seconds. I would say it takes less
than 30 seconds from the XP logo to when the hard drive light stops and
everything is loaded. This is a 2.88 ghz hyper threading Intel P4 with 2
gigs of ram. You have some serious *** loading on your XP Pro box for it
to take two and a half minutes to boot and you should be running things
like Autoruns and Process Explorer and removing everything but the
essentials from your logon process. I load the essentials for the XP box.
I have two sound cards the U-MU 0404 and the M-Audio Delta 4 channel and
load both their patch mixers. I load NOD32, Lightscribe and a few others.
I couldn't sit there for 2 and a half minutes twiddling my fingers waiting
to get a login screen. But I do leave my computers run 24/7 except when I
shut them down to clean them every other week.

I hardly ever boot my PC. But the most of the time goes into BIOS post
things, I suppose. Takes about 50 secs to even get to the actual OS
loading; takes good while to go thru all three separate HD systems,
RAID bioses etc.

Still, I have removed pretty much all I can via MSCONFIG; there's no
google toolbars or anything like office speedloader, all that can go
will go.
The actual desktop I see pretty quickly, but then it takes ages for
the taskbar to load - I've got soo many programs on there from skype
to AnyDVD to audiocard EMU-FX systems (which all alone loads like 30
seconds) and whatnot...but I need 'em all. I've got a terabyte of disk
and yoy wouldn't believe the amount of programs I've got on
there...just games, I suppose dozens.

I usually just nuke it all every two three years...save all I need on
an USB drive and just redo it all.
