JCM 800 2204 50W amp (1981). Found it on e-bay, but to my surprise my
local used instrument store was the one who was selling it! So I hopped
over there with my custom guitar in hand and lo and behold, they had a
JMP 2204 MKII as well. So I had a unique opportunity to A/B them.
Strangely enough, I liked the 6550-powered JCM sounded better to my ears
than the EL34-powered JMP. Go figure. Anyway, my long quest for one of
those wonderful crunchy amps is over. Haven't had a chance to try it
with my other guitars at home yet, but I'll be giving it a workout
tonight.
