"locking" a bigsby

Hi
ive got a bigsby on my geetar, but all it does is detunes and look
cool, so i thought maybe i can "lock" it somehow?
just looking at it gives me two ideas..

1. exchange the spring for something totally unflexible (maybe theres
some product for this already?

2. just remove the spring.. might have to remove the arm too then, or
it will point in a weird angle

is it gonna be worth it? (never use it)
.
