Hi guys...
Fighting GAS again, thought I'd build a Mustang using an older 7/8 scale
Warmoth neck I got stuck with ( 24 3/4" scale ). The pups on the Mustangs,
are they the same wind as the strat ( except dealing with two pups, one +
N and one - N ), or are they a creature all their own?
It's been well over twenty years since I played one seriously, and don't
remember the tonal qualities of the pups. Advice sought, thanks in
advance...

Have a look on the Seymour Duncan website, they give dimensions and
performance specs for most of their pickups. That should at least give you a
start on comparing strat and mustang pickups.
