I have a Early Charvel Model I from around 1985, it has a locking nut anda
Floyd Rose tremolo. ( 3 springs attached in the rear) The problem withthe
guitar, It will not stay in tune. I can tune the guitar, by the time Ilock
the nut, it's already out of tune. Even when using the micro tuners, ita
doesn't stay in tune too long. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of getting
hard tail bridge, but if I can keep the tremolo, I'd like to.
Make sure the strings are wound on the tuners so they essentially lock in
place. You will need to stretch the strings out really good before you lock
things into place. Tune the guitar roughly to tune, then pull up fairly
firmly on the strings one by one. Then re-tune. Repeat until things don't
change. Then, and only then, lock it down. If you can't get to that point,
either you're winding them wrong or you have a problem with the tuners.
