someone will start a guitar discussion group that requires a valid name
phone number and address (on display for all to see) in order for a
person to post or respond. It would really cut down on the cowards who
feel they can insult as they please without reprisal. People dont like it

I think that would be called a "moderated internet forum" or something
similar. I think there are a ton of them in the Internet now.
I'm torn between 1) the ability to say what I want when I want on this
newsgroup and not be edited or 2) to read a forum where there is a lot of
good information with no spam, fights, etc but where posts can be and are
edited by the moderator if he/she doesn't like the tone that you type in
or the words that are used. I haven't decided which is the lesser of two
evils.

Personally, I like this newsgroup. I don't normally get involved in the ***
stirring because it takes too much effort for little to no reward.
Hell, I like just about everybody here. I could do without Romeo and Wereo,
but I just block them so I'd never know they were here except when people
reply to their stupid rants.
But I don't think it is a good idea to put your phone number and address on
here. Especially if you have a family at home. You might feel confident in
your ability to fight, but you might not know the fight is coming or the
fight might be intiated from 250 yards away by someone looking down a scope.
That might seem a bit extreme, but there are some extreme people out there.

I enjoy forums like this mainly because I get great info, but also for
entertainment value. That is, the name calling, bloviating, etc.
Oh... and worthless posts, like the one I'm writing. Marty
