I got one. I love it. The mikes are very good for recording ambient
sound in a room and it has inputs for each mike and also line inputs.

To get the tracks out of the unit into the computer, you can export to
wave or aiff files one track at a time or use the BRWC software to
export all the tracks from a "song" automatically via a USB cable. It
is very easy to do.

You can do your mixing in the unit or externally using software like
Sonar 6 or similar.

I use mine to record practice sessions, using 2 tracks and the ambient
mikes to record the sound in the room, I can record 4 separate "takes"
per "song" before I have to create a new "song". I usually record on
Monday nites when we practice and then take it to work on Tues and
listen at my desk to the recording. Go home that evening and export
then strip out all the goof off stuff and chitchat crap and burn the
actual songs stuff to disk and give it to the other guys to listen to so
they can hear where they screwed up every time.

Higher end units in the Boss line will give you a cd burner built in,
but I chose the BR-600 because of it size / portability. I can do my
burning on my computer.

Got mine used off of eBay for $150, with the case and XLR adaptor. See
them go for less than $200 all the time. Wait and watch and you can do
the same.

Thanks for the info - I bought one new from MF and received it the
other day. Been too busy to spend time with it, but I'm amazed at how
small/light it is! Smaller than a magazine and only 1" thick. I
obviously misread or forgot the actual dimensions/weight so I was sure
they sent the wrong unit based on the size of the shipping box. Only
real downfalls are the small CompactFlash card (128M) and no A/C
adapter, but both can be had pretty cheap.

Can't wait to mess with it. Been wanting a decent digital recording
unit for a long time.

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a Boss BR-600. I've been reading about it
online - but I have a question:

How do you burn an audio disc? Is it easy to transfer the mix to a PC?

Thanks,
