Re: 50's Sure 55S mic cable making a hum.

Its the old 3 prong wire. The end that was busted off was a Phono
cable like headphones.
Unfortunately its long gone to match up. Odd thing the hum goes away
by 50% when the large ground wire is taken off.

The ground is on correctly on pin 2 on the Pre amp and correctly on
the mic.

And yes the cord hums even when the mic is not attached.
The only think I can think of is the cord someplace is damaged but
building a cable even one for testing temporally is all I can think of
to rule out that the cable has a break someplace.

Also the impedance matching on the mic H/M/L slightly makes the hum go
away, however the hum is humming even when its just the cord plugged
in.

None of my new mic or cords will hum in any way so my amp/pre amp/
mixer and cabling is tested good.

Also it would appear that if I spelled it "shure" next time I might
get better research ehe...
First correct search gave me this and said something about XLR
termination.

$33 plus shipping = $55 its not quite as good as doing it your self
and thats high for a XLR cord. O well!
