Hi all, I need advice.
I've been playing for quite a few years now, in and out of various
styles of bands.
My amp is a JCM2000 50w head with a Marshall 2x12 cabinet. No effects.
My guitar is an old Strat copy that I've had since I was a young 'un. I
have a SD Hot Rails in the bridge.
I've had and sold a Telecaster, 2 SGs, a Washburn 335 and a Samick
TV20(don't laugh). I also sold my Maton Mastersound recently and my Epi
Korina V (SD '59 in that one).
Here's my problem....the Gibson necks are too fat for me, I find them
uncomfortable. But, the Tele and my Strat copy, even with the HotRails
are too thin. The Maton was nice but it "honked" a bit - hard to describe.
So, I guess I am looking for a guitar with a nice fat sound that drives
well (think Malcolm Young rather than Dimebag) and isn't harsh. It also
needs a neck that is fairly slim (width).
Any suggestions?
Or is my amp the issue. I LOVE the clean sound and the drive on the
classic channel but the lead channel is really too thin for a good
overdriven rhythm sound (to my ears).
Thanks if you can help. I'm happy to go to the guitar store and play
anything but I'd value any suggestions!!

I don't see how the amp can be the issue with the uncomfortable necks.
How bout one of the Gibson SG's with the thinner necks...I don't know
which models off hand but someone here can tell you. Carvin makes nice
necks not too fat or thin. Good luck.
