I really want a dedicated computer for recording, space is a big factor,
the portability of a laptop is sounding like a real nice feature. I went
out
shopping , spent a lot of time on line now I'm looking at a Dell Inspiron
6400. 160 GB HD. Processor 2 Duo T700, 2 GAB ram . about $1200 . As for
the
cost everybody's financial situation is deferent. My problem is I don't
know
a lot about computers if somebody could tab it out that would help. But
from
the post I've got More ramification , More Gegi bots, Faster than Fast
Processors, Atomic Flux Capacitors linked to NASA's internal time clock.

Dave,

Can you post a link to the final product, as you spec'ed it out? We'd
like to see it. Looks like a nice computer. Main thing is that it will
play well with PT and your interface. Are Dell and Digidesign in
agreement?

Steve

The more information I get things change.

This is where I started on the 6400 Have fun. I think 6400 is for business
only I know a few business owners that will do it

From what I saw at your first link, I think it looks more than
adequate for the job. I would, however, upgrade to one of the 7200 rpm
hard drives. But the CPU and RAM should be more than up to the task.
Also, as configured, it's only $699! Even with a 3-year warranty it's
only $870. Oops, with HD upgrade add $100-150. If you're dead set on
a laptop, it looks like a pretty decent deal.
