The laptop sounds good, but I would go with the 2 GB of RAM and the upgraded
processor. Also, check to see what sound card is in that system and make
sure that you meet all the system requirements with Pro tools, it should say
what the recommended system requirements are. Good Luck.

I recently bought a M-box 2 mini came with Pro tools 7.3 bunch of other
programs. I am trying to learn how to Record on the computer, Just some
simple guitar tracks, add some drum loops just your basic home recording
for
fun. After loading all this on my computer nothing really worked quiet
right
with the pro tools. After doing some research I am running XP Media witch
is
not supported by Pro Tools. Talking to their Tec. support he e-mailed some
suggestions on loading it and a program to completely uninstall it before
I
started. After reinstalling it dose work sometimes but not like it should.
So now I've decided to buy a dedicated computer witch was my original
goal.
So what I,m looking is a Dell notebook 1505. It has 1- GB memory and 80-
GB
hard drive and they will install Widows XP home all this for $699. The
computer will be used for recording only maybe going on line once in a
great
while. So is this a good choice? is 1-GB of ram enough ? 80 GB hard drive
seems OK to me. I,m also thinking of upgrading the 2 Duo Processor T7400
to
the next level up that was suggested by the dell rep.( $50) I,m lost in
this
area good or bad Idea ? Any suggestion would be appreciated. I did look
at
the Mac's a lot of people suggested them, very nice just way over priced .
Thanks in advance.
